Farsley will kick off their 20/20 run against East Bierley on Saturday 10th June/Tuesday 12th June (date TBC) at Red Lane.
The two teams have never met in the 20/20 competition but Farsley will be confident after their resounding win against Bierley in their last meeting in the JCT600 Bradford League (scoresheet).
In contrast to previous years the group stages of the tournament have been scrapped in favour of a new knockout competition. A win in this first round will mean a a tough battle against last years 20/20 champions Bradford and Bingley. The full draw can be seen on the league website.

The Annual General Meeting of the Farsley Cricket Club will be held in the Clubhouse on Thursday 23 February 2012 at 8.00pm. We would very much appreciate your attendance at the meeting. As you are well aware the club has gone through a very successful period on the field, the 1st XI were second in the first division of the Bradford League and the 2nd XI won the championship in their league.
However, the club is being run by only a few individuals. We are desperately in need of new committee members, a secretary and also members who are prepared to work on behalf of the club.
You will note from the involvement of some members last year that the junior section continues to thrive and we are very grateful for the help of some members in this area. The meeting will address these issues along with reportage from the previous year’s financial statement. We look forward to your attendance on the night.
David Storr
Chairman

Lorenzo Ingram and Joe Greaves have together taken away five awards at the annual JCT600 Bradford Cricket League awards ceremony.
Lorenzo won the league batting averages with an unrivalled 87.69 in a season where he scored an impressive 1140 runs. Not only did he have amazing batting statistics he also took 50 wickets with the ball, a fact which earned him the All Rounder of the Year and Player’s Player of the Year awards.
Joe, who also had a fantastic season scoring 1020 runs while hitting five centuries scooped up the Young Cricket of the Year award recognising his continued achievements even at his young age of 20. His imposing fielding presence also gained him the Fielder of the Year award after scoring 6 league fielding points throughout the season, points awarded by the impartial league umpires. He also received a nomination along with Lorenzo for the Player’s Player of the Year, another sign of recognition for the outstanding seasons that both players had.
Congratulations to both players on these well deserved awards.
The 3rd annual sponsored walk proved to be another successful event. Club Chairman, David Storr said:
“Congratulations to all those that took part in this years sponsored walk. Thank you for all your continued efforts to support the club.”

After winning four league games on the trot against tough opposition such as Pudsey Gongs, Underdiffe, Pudsey St Lawrence and East Bierley, Farsley rolled over in producing their worst performance – certainly with the ball – of an otherwise successful season. This enigmatic Mills side – languishing all season in the bottom reaches of division – have done the double over the Rams in emphatic fashion on both occasions and this latest away defeat showed the worst sides of a Farsley team who have previously given so much enjoyment over this 2011 season.
The Rams were again short of opening bowler Chris Henry and, this week, middle order batsman Craig Thronton but Neil Laidlaw made a welcome return to the team, albeit only as a batsman, and veteran Raymond Sutcliffe left behind his beans, bananas and broccoli to make his first team debut. Ben Greaves stood in for the season-long vacancy which Farsley have suffered and which has been filled by a succession of second teamers, third teamers, junior players, little old ladies, Uncle Tom Cobley and Ben himself of course. Chairman David Storr added to his list of seasonal jobs by having to score this week and this activity followed his rising at the crack of dawn, going to Farsley, working on the ground, shopping for the second team’s match day pies, picking up sandwiches and other tea time goodies, jigging the teams around after late cry-offs, collecting Lorenzo Ingram from Henry’s farmhouse abode and transporting the Jamaican to Manningham Milts. His supply of coloured pens, pencils, rubbers and Tippex would have done credit to W H Smith’s as he joined ‘Mills own scorer for the 1 pm start.

Anyone suggesting in pre-season that the Rams would beat both Pudsey sides – Congs and St Lawrence – at home and away during the 2011 season ran the risk of being carted off by two men in white coats and I Am not referring here to two Bradford League umpires. From what I have witnessed this season the league’s umpires have enough problems of their own to sort out.
But four wins it is – and forty points in fact taken off the 2010 champions Pudsey Congs and a not inconsiderable 37 points off our friends at Tofts Road. If I dare throw In the fact that Farsley have savaged 1053 runs in those four games (an average of 263 runs per game if you can’t be bothered to work it out) then those of our readers who believe that stats and figures prove very little ought to go and stand in a corner with a big pointed hat on their head. This twelfth victory of a highly charged season in fact lifted the Rams into second place, replacing Cleckheaton who capitulated against champions-elect Woodlands at Moorend last weekend.

Farsley’s eighth league victory out of ten games at Red Lane this season was one which their West Indian all-rounder Lorenzo Ingram will remember for a long while. His 114 not out – his fourth not out ton of the season – took him well past 1000 runs breaking the Bradford League record for scoring the fastest 1000 runs in a season (from only 17 innings). Congratulations Enzo. His later five wicket haul left him a mere 5 wickets short of 50 for the Rams in their 18 league encounters. You could say he’s having a half-decent season!!
This victory was not a one man band show however, skipper Ian Philliskirk making a telling 77 and Joe Greaves another quickfire 40 as the Rams ran up a big 288-4 total during which opener Steve Simpson with 27 and a later 23 not out from Barry Franktand were also useful contributions on an above-par total on another good Red Lane track.

It’s probably never happened before but this double victory over neighbours PSL following their victory over East Bierley the week before meant that another below-strength Farsley side had beaten both this season’s Priestley Cup Finalists in successive weeks. This reduced-overs game of 46 overs per side, due to previous rain, added to the joy of winning the earlier game against the Saints at Red Lane in May and an almost similar scoreline – 256-7 today, as opposed to Farsley’s 255-7 on the last occasion, was merely coincidental but as well merited, albeit not quite the thriller we had back in May.
This third successive victory over the Saints had a number of heroes even though the Rams were again well under full strength and hero number one must surely have been Steve Simpson whose fine 49 and three excellent boundary edge catches qualified him for the Rams’ popular ‘man of the match’ award. Joe Greaves’ hard hitting 38 and the vital wicket of Adam Waite also took the eye whilst skipper Ian Philliskirk with a steady 34, some astute captaincy and the key wickets of Robertshaw and Marsden steadied Farsley’s ship at important periods of the game. ‘Enzo’s 23 took him past 900 League runs for the season and his two wickets played another key part in the win whilst Barry Frankland’s excellent late 42 not out and his brilliant pick up and arrow-like throw to run out Steve Thompson was another game highlight. Last but not least was Ryan Lumb’s bowling who bounced back from an earlier indifferent spell to snare four late wickets in a full overs shift of 14-1-57- 4.
